The final Covid Rice Appeal transfer has been received and distributed

The final transfer of £1,692.50 was made to St Paul’s School on 15th August to purchase sacks of rice for the families of the sponsored children, the unpaid teachers and the poorest families known to the Mother’s Union in the Bo Diocese. They were distributed the following week (see pictures below).

This means a total of £6,192.50 was collected and transferred during the Price Is Rice Appeal, a hugely generous effort by the local church and our supporters. You have saved many of the poorest from starvation at a critical time in the Covid crisis, and it seems that the worst is over now as the lockdown has been lifted, schools are back, church services are allowed again and the number of new cases country wide has slowed to a trickle. Only the curfew remains.

Our intervention came at a critical time. None of the teachers or children contracted the disease and the rice was hugely appreciated by both church and school, and literally saved lives. Well done and thank you.
