In January Linda Baker sent the money for a plaque to go by the entrance to the David Baker Memorial Hall for which we provided the money in 2012 , mainly to house the school for assemblies, but also to provide a great facility for school, community and church. The picture showed how badly the Hall needed repainting so that too has now been done thanks to Linda.
On 21st March Janet Scott-Manga, elder sister of head teacher Solomon, went to Bo for 3 weeks taking with her letters for the sponsored children, books for Solomon’s theological degree course, and money to paint the hall as well as provide fees for a sponsored child’s 3rd year at uni studying management and accounting.
Alex & Mette, Danish missionaries in Bo, visited us in mid-April and were taken to dinner by committee members. It was good to share a meal and chat about things we have in common, and to show them our beautiful village.
In the 2nd week after Easter Gerry & Bruce gave presentations to ladies of St Anne’s Church and the URC church respectively. Both talks went well and raised £136.50 between them two new children were sponsored with hope of more to come.
Looking ahead to November, Penelope & Rod Sharman from Education West Africa are visiting Bo to hold a Head Teachers Conference. They have kindly agreed to take letters/Christmas cards with them for the children. We may have other opportunities beforehand of course but at lease this should be definite as the conference is already booked.
