Update Summary from Theresa Allie – Pupil Liason Officer at St. Paul’s

Due to changes in Government – a newly elected president of Sierra Leone – SSS4
(Senior Secondary School 4) is being phased out and SSS will finish in SSS3. So,
at the end of this academic year 60 sponsored pupils, instead of the expected 30,
will be taking their WASSCE (West African Senior School Certificate
Examination).

A good number of the sponsored pupils find it very difficult to have three meals a
day, and some struggle to have even one. No electricity at night means it is very
difficult for many of them to study or complete homework in the evenings. In
spite of these challenges, at the end of last academic year approximately 70% of
sponsored pupils were successfully promoted to the next year group.

Theresa thanks everyone for ‘the tremendous work you are doing in helping in
the development of these children. May God continue to bless you all and your
families.’
